SRINAGAR, MAY 29 (KNO) : On the directions of Minister for Higher Education, Technical Education and Information Technology, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari, a consultative-cum-review meeting of Skill Training Providers was held in Srinagar to take innovative measures for skill training of Jammu Kashmir’s workforce.

The Minister had earlier directed that the entire Skill Training Providers of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana scheme (Central Component) be brought under one roof and a comprehensive skill programme is made for monitoring these centres with quality output. The meeting, a first of its kind, was held here in the Conference Hall of Institute of Hotel Management, Srinagar. Seventy-five training providers of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) scheme took part in the meeting which was chaired by the Mission Director- JKSDM Dr. Peer GN Suhail.

The meeting was held to discuss existing programs which need to be improved or modified to provide quality skill and employment opportunities to the youth of J&K. Suhail said, “focus should be on employment creation and MNCs should be roped in for providing suitable jobs to our workforce,” he said. He said that the meeting was to understand the challenges faced by the training providers in implementing the projects and acquiring actual information. “We will be organizing such consultations regularly so as to ensure smooth functioning of the skill training programs in J&K”, concluded Suhail. He said that Jammu and Kashmir government has come up with a raft of skill training programmes.
